Icron Technologies Corporation , a provider of extended range connectivity technologies for the industrial and commercial computing marketplace, today announced the launch of its new USB Ranger 422i product.
With the USB Ranger 422i, Icron said it further extends its reach in the industrial and commercial computing market segments. According to the company, customers in these large markets are rapidly adopting computer operating systems that rely on Universal Serial Bus (USB) for connecting computers to peripheral devices and industrial control interfaces. Icron's said its USB Ranger products offer ndustry-standard based packaged solution to facilitate these connections beyond the 5-meter distance limitation built into USB.
In addition to the new USB Ranger 422i, Icron has announced that the ExtremeUSB Core D/L Developer's Kit now allows the company's OEM customers to build in the Ranger technology to their products. The new USB Ranger 422i integrates Icron's ExtremeUSB technology and a multi-mode fiber optic link to allow up to four USB devices to be connected over a distance of up to 500 meters. The company said typical users will include providers of industrial process control systems, Internet enabled/ digital camera-based observation networks and access control/biometrics-based security systems.
