SBS Technologies has introduced the PMC-Gigabit-ST2, a single-wide PCI Mezzanine Card (PMC) with a single Gigabit Ethernet interface controller port that the company said relieves bandwidth bottlenecks and allows for rapid incorporation of Gigabit Ethernet technology into high-performance CompactPCI systems.
SBS said the Ethernet network interface complies with the IEEE 802.3 specification for 10BaseT, 100BaseTX and 1000BaseT over category 5 twister-pair cable, while a 64 KB FIFO buffer memory allows back-to-back transmissions with minimal interface latency. The PMC-Gigabit-ST2 also features a 10BaseT, 100BaseTX and 1000BaseT auto-detection CSMA-CD interface controller.
According to the company the the 64-bit PMC-Gigabit-ST2, which is compliant with standard single-wide PMC IEEE P1386.1 and PCI 2.2 specifications, addresses a diverse range of markets including industrial automation, semiconductor processing, medical, server and enterprise, data communications, LAN/WAN and telecommunications.
The list price for the standard PMC-Gigabit-ST2 is $390. Single-port fiber, dual-port copper and dual-port fiber Gigabit Ethernet interfaces are also available.
