New Services at the NAP of the Americas
February 22, 2002
By Optically Networked Staff

Internet infrastructure provider Terremark Worldwide Inc. (Quote) said it is rolling out new managed storage and backup services solutions at its Tier-1 Network Access Point -- the NAP of the Americas.

With these new products, the NAP's customers can increase data security, reduce costs and simplify management of mission-critical data, officials said.

Under the brand name of TerreNAP Storage, TerreNAP Enhanced Storage and TerreNAP Backup, the NAP of the Americas now provides infrastructure technology components ensuring the performance and reliability required by today's applications, officials said.

TerreNAP Storage and TerreNAP Enhanced Storage enable customers to achieve higher levels of application availability, system reliability, data security, and storage capability at a fraction of the cost and time of typical deployments.

TerreNAP BackUp, meantime, is a disaster protection service with regularly scheduled backup of live data, assisting in protecting customers from data loss due to catastrophic disaster, human error, software corruption, hardware malfunction and environmental failures.

Terremark is working with StorageWay Inc. to bring the new services to its customers. StorageWay, in turn, will use EMC Corp.'s Symmetrix storage platform at the site.

Terremark owns and operates the NAP of the Americas, the 5th Tier-1 Network Access Point in the world and the model for TerreNAP Data Centers the company intends to deploy in emerging markets. The carrier-neutral NAP of the Americas is a state-of-the-art facility providing interconnection between global carriers, ISPs and others as well as connecting fiber networks in Latin America, Europe, Asia and Africa to those in the U.S.
