Unfortunately, if you are a small business owner you also cope with some challenges the big guys don't have, budgets are small and your IT staff, if you even have one, may not have storage-specific expertise. Attend this webcast and learn storage strategies to meet your growing business demands.

Bulldog Raises $14.3M in VC
February 14, 2002
By Bob Woods

London-based Bulldog Communications, which is spending £300 million ($428.7 million) for the build-out of its national network, said it has closed on more than £10 million ($14.3 million) in its Series B round of funding.

The Series B round -- the first of two planned funding rounds this year -- is important "as it gives Bulldog a fully funded plan and the financial resources to support its first phase of U.K. network deployment through to positive cash flow," officials said.

Previous investors Omnia Limited, Lattice Group and Fresh Capital Group participated in this most recent round.

"Bulldog now has financial resources to drive forward the commercial launch of our broadband service in the U.K. providing service providers with an alternative to the incumbent (British Telecom)," said Bulldog Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Chairman Richard Greco. "We are well positioned to reach our overall £40 million ($57.2 million) fund raising target for this year."

This first phase of funding will enable Bulldog to provide DSL-based broadband services to 550,000 homes and businesses in central London this year. With the completion of the second round of funding later this year, Bulldog will have the financial resources to serve the greater metropolitan area supporting 4,000,000 homes and businesses by the second quarter of 2003.

Bulldog's service trials are scheduled to commence in April 2002, followed by a formal commercial launch mid-year.

By 2007, Bulldog plans to invest up to £300 million ($428.7 million) for the build-out of its national network, which is anticipated to cover up to 70% of homes and businesses in the U.K. Bulldog Communications has targeted partners of its DSL services to include ISP's, ASP's, integrated communications providers, cable companies, Web portals, wireless communications providers and utility companies wishing to offer broadband enabled services to their clients.
