When it comes to storage, small and medium businesses have a lot in common with large enterprises. Just like the Fortune 400, they need to ensure that data is backed up, retrievable and secure, and that data access complies with governmental regulations. Unfortunately, if you are a small business owner you also cope with some challenges the big guys don't have, budgets are small and your IT staff, if you even have one, may not have storage-specific expertise. Attend this webcast and learn storage strategies to meet your growing business demands. Register Now >
Naperville, Ill.-based Tellabs (Quote) said its new ultra-compact Tellabs 6350 next-generation synchronous digital hierarchy (SDH) transport switch offers the scalability and density operators need to build a robust metro-optical network.
In addition, the Tellabs 6350 transport switch offers a "pay as your grow" model that enables service providers to increase network capacity and instantly provision new services -- when needed -- to lower initial capital investments, officials said.
The Tellabs 6350 transport switch is described as a flexible and adaptive multi-service platform that delivers voice services from 2 Mbps and higher, leased line services and new value-added data services such as high-speed Ethernet. With its high density and cost effectiveness, the 4/4/1 cross-connect can be deployed at the very edge of the network, optimizing network efficiency and minimizing operating costs from floor space to power consumption. One single rack of equipment can handle more than 1 million simultaneous phone calls and Internet sessions.
The Tellabs 6350 transport switch provides the ideal expansion route for customers of the Tellabs FOCUS SDH platform who require greater bandwidth and switching capacity. The Tellabs 6350 system can be used directly with Tellabs' dense wave division multiplexing (DWDM) systems -- the Tellabs TITAN 6100 and the Tellabs FOCUS 6200 optical transport systems -- for capacity expansion through its colored interfaces, enabling flexible and cost- effective utilization of the existing fiber infrastructure.
