Broadband wired and wireless products provider Eagle Broadband said it has signed with Path 1 Network Technologies Inc. a memorandum of understanding that creates a marketing and technology alliance to address the growing market for long distance, real-time, DVD-quality video distribution over convergent IP virtual private networks or private networks.
Path 1 is a provider of technology, equipment and services that merge broadcast-quality video transport with IP/Ethernet broadband networks.
Path 1 will work with Eagle to identify new convergent opportunities, especially in cities where leaders are considering replacing broadcast and traditional cable operations with "flexible IP infrastructures," said Eagle Broadband Chairman and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Dr. H. Dean Cubley. "With the Path 1 technology, Eagle can distribute content from our headend facilities over broadband IP networks into any distant part of the country without having to duplicate these facilities in each new location. This reuse of existing capabilities will allow Eagle to offer an extremely competitive content and service offering to many of the growing number of communities and municipalities that are currently planning the implementation of FTTH (fiber-to-the-home) or similar networks in their local areas."
