StockerYale Inc. (Quote) said it has completed a $7.7 million private placement of shares of common stock to a group of institutional investors.
In a brief statement, the company said the placement was led by Wellington Management and Van Wagoner Capital Management. In connection with the offering, StockerYale said it issued 988,600 shares of common stock.
StockerYale stated that it expects to use the net proceeds for working capital and general corporate purposes.
Just after 10:00 a.m. EST, shares of StockerYale were up $0.011 or 0.12% at $8.92 each on the Nasdaq exchange.
StockerYale Inc. is headquartered in Salem, N.H., and describes itself as "an independent designer and manufacturer of phase masks, specialty optical fiber, and related components used in the building of optical networks as well as structured light lasers, specialized fiber optic, fluorescent, and LED illumination products for use in the machine vision, industrial inspection, medical and military markets."
The company also said it reinvests a significant percentage of its revenues in research and development to meet the future requirements of its customers. StockerYale has offices and subsidiaries in Canada, Europe, and the Pacific Rim.
StockerYale also recently introducted a new line of "diffraction gratings" for its networking products. Primarily designed for use in multiplexers, demultiplexers, optical spectrum analyzers, and tunable lasers, gear is designed to enhance the performance of telecommunication devices.
