Pacific LightNet, Inc., a Hawaii-based company offering integrated telecommunications solutions, and Cinta Networks, a telecommunications firm developing optical networking systems, have agreed to deploy Cinta Networks' WAVEJunctionfamily of products for field trial in Pacific LightNet's Hawaii Interisland Fiber Network (HIFN).
"The addition of Cinta Networks' integrated switching and DWDM transport system will give Pacific LightNet the first fully optical 10 gigabit interisland system, significantly enhancing the service that we can provide to our customers," said Rob Volker, president of Pacific LightNet. "The system is scaleable one port at a time, allowing us to economically expand the system as we deploy new products." John Warta, chairman and CEO of Pacific LightNet added, "This arrangement will enable us to provide incredible bandwidth between the islands and unique bandwidth switching to complement new product offerings that we are planning."
According to Pacific LightNet, it owns and operates HIFN, Hawaii's largest interisland fiber optic network, connecting the six major islands by submarine and terrestrial cables. The goal is for Cinta Networks' integrated optical switching and DWDM transport system to enhance the network's ability to provide fast, seamless, and reliable transfer of information for Hawaii businesses to the global business community.
