Microtel International Inc. (Quote), which makes telecommunications equipment and electronic components, said its CXR Telcom subsidiary has signed an original equipment manufacturing (OEM) agreement with a telecommunications engineering company to obtain an advanced, full feature OC-3/OC-12 transmission test instrument to add to its initial OC-3 Microcel Asynchronous Transmission Mode (ATM) test set.
This agreement provides CXR Telcom with a "flexible test instrument that offers multiple, high-speed optical interfaces and the ability to monitor multi-layer ATM protocols, officials said. The new instrument is an enhancement to CXR Telcom's initial OC-3 version and is intended to meet the rapidly growing demand for versatile and cost-effective ATM network test instruments.
The test set will be used to install, monitor and assure the transmission quality of communications networks that utilize the ATM transmission protocol. The new OC-3/OC-12 option is scheduled to be available in February 2002 and will be followed by additional interfaces for DS3/E3, DS1/E1 and CAT V ATM later in 2002, thus providing a single multi-speed test set with a wide range of physical interfaces.
