Fiber-optics supplier ADC (Quote) and PacketLight Networks, a provider of metro optical transport systems, today announced a strategic equipment, engineering and installation (EF&I) services agreement between the two companies.
ADC said it will work with PacketLight to deliver service providers an economical and flexible solution that helps reduce costs and generate revenue; supports optical networks; optimizes fiber and wavelength usage; and provides ease of use with end-to-end provisioning and management.
ADC is already an investor in PacketLight, which claims to offer the only service transport system with a single fabric for TDM and data services, transparent edge, inherently efficient data handling and SONET support, plus smooth migration to all-optical, all-packet networks. The company employs "unique technologies" to support the capability of "any service to any lambda" and multiple services on one lambda in a scalable, robust configuration that fully exploits a carrier's fiber resources.
ADC's systems integration capabilities include more than 1,500 service and delivery professionals serving the U.S., France and the United Kingdom. ADC offers services to support customers throughout the technology life cycle, integrating both ADC-specific and complementary product sets. ADC's industry-certified integration professionals provide end-to-end signal verification and turn up of all network and system elements, including network management.
