Acterna (Quote) today announced Acterna Network Asset Care, a new service offering that provides a total end-to-end solution to network inventory management.
Acterna Network Asset Care is a solution designed to help growing and newly consolidated companies discover unused, outdated or under-utilized network elements, officials said. These elements can include network and test equipment, network components including plug-ins and modules, digital cross connect panels, as well as fiber, copper lines and coaxial cable.
Such assets often go unaccounted for, or become "lost," as assets are gained through mergers and acquisitions, company officials said.
Acterna Network Asset Care is a proactive solution that includes service components for performing manual and automated network audits, providing the necessary tools to serve as a basis for network management. A flexible solution, Acterna Network Asset Care can be customized to be as broad or as specific as required.
It may include barcoding, custom software for automated inventory recovery and improved utilization, and database integration into operations support systems (OSSs). In addition, Acterna provides Network Asset Care users with on-site training for clients to keep the network inventory "image" current.
Acterna Network Asset Care is currently available in North America and will be available throughout Western Europe, South America and Asia during 2002.
Acterna Network Asset Care will be showcased at COMNET, January 29-31, at the Washington Convention Center in Washington, D.C.
