Integral Access Rolls Out IAD
January 14, 2002
By Optically Networked Staff

Integral Access Inc., which supplies intelligent IP access networks, today announced a new version of its IP/MPLS-based PurePacketOUTburst-SB integrated access device (IAD) that enables carriers to deliver true high speed data services and twice as many voice lines to small and medium businesses by linking together three T1 access lines.

The enhanced PurePacketOUTburst-SB is the first IAD that allows network operators to cost effectively provide a single customer location with up to 4.5 Mbps of access network bandwidth and support for 48 voice calls using a single customer premises unit, officials said. This new module for the PurePacketOUTburst-SB is part of the PurePacket system which integrates voice, video, and data services on a single IP based access infrastructure.

The PurePacketOUTburst-SB is designed to meet the needs of small and medium sized businesses (SMB), as well as branch offices of large enterprises. With its new inverse multiplexing capabilities, the PurePacketOUTburst-SB enables carriers to transparently bond three 1.5 Mbps T1 lines so they appear as one integrated 4.5 Mbps link to the customer. The PurePacketOUTburst-SB can support up to 4.5 Mbps of data traffic and 48 voice calls. This provides carriers with the flexibility to initially sell customers a level of access bandwidth that meets their current requirements, and remotely increase bandwidth and/or voice lines as capacity needs change.

The new 3xT1 module for the PurePacketOUTburst-SB is available immediately. The upgrade module for existing PurePacketOUTburst-SB units is less than $1,400. Base pricing for the PurePacketOUTburst-SB is less than $1,900.
