Photon Advanced Technologies LLC, a San Diego and Ottawa, Canada-based provider of telecommunication equipment, says it is introducing a new fiber stub product line.
Fiber stubs are used in the transmitter end and the receiver end of transceivers to capture light without the use of fusion splicing, company officials said. This allows for a more compact package design and resolves fiber handling issues in transceiver packaging.
Using fiber stubs also increases safety, officials said, due to the reduction of stray light emission inside the package.
Fiber stubs can be polished on both ends using flat, angled flat, PC, or APC polishes.
Fiber stubs can be ordered in a receptacle assembly, if required. Fiber stubs can also be used in field-terminated connectors.
Besides fiber stubs, Photon's product portfolio also includes specialty fiber optic cable assemblies -- standard, small form factor, multi-fiber, fan-outs, polarization-maintaining, master and reference, among others. Photon also provides connectorization services and distributes passive fiber optic components.
