Mindspeed Technologies a supplier of
semiconductor solutions for network infrastructure applications, and
Jungo, a provider of broadband value-added-service
solutions, today announced that they have integrated
Jungo's OpenRGsoftware with Mindspeed's Comcerto 100 broadband
gateway processors. The integrated product is aimed operators that plan
to use fiber access network capacity to deliver
media-rich services.
According to the companies, the integrated product is a high-performance, Gigabit Ethernet and
VoIP platform that enables operators can use to offer high definition
IPTV and video on demand.
The Comcerto 100 broadband gateway processor, which uses Jungo's
software, is designed to allow service providers to deploy
services with the high-packet throughput required for delivering
next-generation multimedia content to their subscribers. It's designed to offer
intelligent data routing with quality of service (QoS),
carrier-class VoIP, IPv6 support, virtual private networks with
firewalls, as well as seamless support for multiple, emerging LAN and WAN networking
technologies.
"Our collaboration with Jungo offers OEM customers a compelling
price/performance solution for the fast growing broadband gateway and
service router market," Preet Virk, senior vice president and
general manager of Mindspeed's enterprise and customer premise
equipment business unit, said in a statement released yesterday.
OpenRG is a scalable suite of software technologies that
includes APIs for a wide range of
popular services and functions, including IPTV, home media
distribution, WLAN, firewall, VoIP, IP-Private Branch Exchange
(IP-PBX), remote file access and parental control. The
functionality is designed to give gateway manufacturers and operators unrivaled
flexibility for rapidly developing market-specific products.
"Service providers strive to build and maintain their presence and
service uptake within the subscriber's digital home in order to
increase their average revenue per user and reduce customer churn, and
are seeking a solution that provides superior service delivery," said
Moshe Zimerman, Jungo's vice president of sales, in a statement.
