Equant Goes With FiberNet for Metro EtherNet Services

FiberNet Telecom Group Inc., a New York provider of complex metro data services, yesterday announced that it will provide Equant with a low-latency Metro Ethernet Transport services in the New York and New Jersey areas.
Equant, a wholly owned division of the France Telecom Group, provides business communications solutions for multinational organizations.
FiberNet said is was chosen as the integrated hubbing source due to its rapid installation intervals, quick responsiveness and intense focus on customer service.
With this agreement, FiberNet claims that is now caters to more than 90 percent of Equant's Metro Ethernet needs in the New York and New Jersey areas and provides securely managed optical Gigabit Ethernet connectivity.
FiberNet's suite of Metro Ethernet services includes both switched and dedicated forms of Ethernet connections, and VLAN virtual circuits that can be configured to create point-to-point or multipoint-to-multipoint connections for hub, VLAN or VPN networks, according to the company.
FiberNet's Ethernet Service runs on a native Ethernet over Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing (DWDM) network, bypassing SONET conversion to cost-effectively provide connectivity for any application, while maintaining a high degree of reliability.
The service is also designed to provide diverse back-up paths for full protection of all circuits, providing guarantees for latency, availability and Ethernet frame delivery.
