Alliance Fiber Optic Products, a Sunnyvale, Calif.-based supplier of fiber optic components, subsystems and integrated modules for the optical network equipment market, today announced it has been awarded a two-year contract valued over $1.5 million, by AFL Telecommunications, to supply key Thin Film Filter components for Fiber-to-the-Home (FTTH) broadband network deployments. AFL Telecommunications is a division of Alcoa Inc.
AFOP's Triwave 3 band filters are designed to enable video signal insertion into the PON fiber network and are essential for the realization of "triple play" service delivery for FTTH.

"AFL and AFOP are committed to becoming world-leading suppliers of next generation access platform products and this collaboration contributes greatly to both parties reaching this goal."
Alliance Fiber Optic Products designs, manufactures and markets high performance fiber optic components and integrated modules that used communications equipment manufacturers to deliver optical networking systems to the long-haul, enterprise, metropolitan and last mile access segments of the communications network. Its broad product line includes passive optical components including interconnect systems, couplers and splitters, thin film DWDM components and modules, fixed and variable optical attenuators, and depolarizers.
