Unfortunately, if you are a small business owner you also cope with some challenges the big guys don't have, budgets are small and your IT staff, if you even have one, may not have storage-specific expertise. Inkra's Network to Power IBM Services on Demand
November 14, 2002
Inkra Networks' Virtual Service Architecture (VSA) has been selected by IBM Global Services to provide data-center infrastructure for IBM's e-business-on-demand
offerings. IBM will deploy Inkra's 4000 Virtual Service Switch (VSS) in IBM
data centers that offer e-business on demand to provide customers a full
suite of security and performance services, custom-designed to optimise each
customer's e-business presence.
According to Inkra, IBM selected the Inkra 4000 VSS because of its ability to deliver dedicated network-based security, performance, and business continuity services, such
as firewalling and load balancing, in an on-demand fashion and at lower costs than previous appliance-based solutions. The offerings will be based on Inkra's HardWall technology, which ensures customer security and performance separation, isolates faults, and guarantees system resources for every user of VSS-based services.
IBM will also use Inkra's Centre Point management suite to centrally track and manage services deployed to enterprise customers. Centre Point enables network administrators to rapidly and dynamically respond to user requests for service changes -- without any service downtime.
